  1. Neon Pink- the pink hue works on all skin tones. Splurge on a hot pink coat or dress, or one or two acid-bright accessories. With a color this vibrant, you only need a little dab.
  2. Over the knee boots- these boots will work with a short dress or with skinny jeans.
  3. One shoulder dresses- the one strap cuts draw attention to the shoul;der and the face so wear one with a big smile!
  4. Leather Pants- ditch the dark jeans and slip into a dark pair of leather pants. The new styles fit close to the body and seem to magically erase five pounds.
  5. Big shoulder jackets- try one of fall's 80's inspired jackets. A little volume at the shoulders can make your posture seem stronger and slims the waist.
  6. The edgy LBD- designers looked toward the future with sleek cutouts and body hugging silhouettes tha brought these black dresses to a modern edgy feel.
  7. Short velvet dresses- short velvet dresses are cozy and chic plus you can't get much more of a soft texture than velvet.
  8. Sequins for day- designers are pilling comfy layers over sequined shirts and dresses which create a low-key yet glamorous look that would work 365 days a year.

An US bill that might increase Pakistan's Apparel exports

image A bill before Congress, would allow Pakistani clothing makers in the Taliban-dominated north-west of the country to export their products duty-free to the US. But critics say that could come at the cost of American workers. American retailers, such as Wal-Mart and Levi Strauss, and brand owners, together with Pakistani manufacturers, are lobbying to expand the terms of the initiative. They say the programme is so restrictive in the products it covers that it is a 'hollow gesture' and would not boost the current $3.1bn (1.9bn) worth of annual textile exports from Pakistan to the US. The bill, championed by Barack Obama, seeks to provide employment for people, who might otherwise be sucked into militant groups, which pay handsomely.

Multi feeder knitting machines

In Tirupur market market off late we find a lot of Multi - feeder knitting machines ( machines with 6 to 7 feeder per Inch of cylinder diameter ),

these are mainly used for stripes designs, In order to make the bigger / engineering designs in a bit cheaper way they use it. In the older machine the feeder per inch was around 1.5 to 1.7 but later machines current ordinary machines have about 3 feeder per inch. The main problem with the extra no of feeders is that the fabric feel will not smooth and spirality cannot be controlled. if you cone across stripe with more than 5 cms it's better to use auto strippers.

imageEver since developed countries started to increasingly resort to Non-Tariff Measures (NTM) to protect their domestic industry, the exporters in developing countries have been finding it difficult to overcome such trade barriers. NTMs like the demand for ecofriendly products, especially those made from organic cotton and child labour free production units are restricting the exporters from Third World countries. They fail to meet the NTMs set by those countries, and end up suffering heavy losses due to cancelled export orders . As part of the national-level study to find out the impact of Non-Tariff Measures (NTM) on garment exports, The results of their study would be presented at the next World Trade Organisation meet at Dhoka in Nepal.

Tirupur exporters debt is Rs.6000 Crs

image  The Tirupur garment industry, which is the country's largest knitwear export hub, has also confirmed the position was very bad all over. This industry has to repay as much as Rs 6,000 crore to banks and other financial institutions.  While acknowledging the industry outstanding is huge, it was not recession alone which hit the industry but also shortage of power.  Despite these problems industry was getting inquiries, but we could not deliver goods on time and offer a competitive price. Yet, customers are willing to place orders only if we can match the prices of the Chinese and Bangladeshi firms. Chinese are quoting 20 per cent less and Bangladesh 30 per cent less compared to Tirupur exporters. Extra power, raw material and interest costs are making Tirupur garments costlier and uncompetitive. According to TEA's data, exports from Tirupur dropped to around Rs 9,500 crore in 2008-09 from Rs 11,000 crore in 2006-07, a drop of around 13 per cent, the first time that Tirupur exporters have witnessed a drop in the exports.

Tirupur exports in negative growth

Written By Views maker on July 17, 2009 | 7/17/2009

imageAccording to Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA), exports declined to Rs 9,500 crore in 2008-09 from Rs 9,950 crore in 2007-08 and Rs 11,000 crore in 2006-07, Exports from the knitwear city of Tirupur continued to show a negative growth, and the industry representatives say that their vision to become a Rs 25,000-crore industry by 2012 is 'impossible'. The industry has also decided to hold back investments worth Rs 1,500 crore. The target was set based on the 15-20 per cent growth that the industry had witnessed till 2007-08. However, exports started declining by about 13 per cent since then. The negative growth is simply due to shifting of orders to china, Bangladesh and Vietnam, the Chinese government has increased the value-added tax (VAT) refund to 17 per cent from nine per cent, while Bangladesh offers a 15 per cent subsidy for garment exporters. Besides, the exporters get various incentives from the Bangladesh government including tax support, infrastructure and power.

During his visit, Maran will inaugurate the Indian Pavilion at the Japan International Fashion Fair (JIFF), known as Mega Apparel and Textile Show, at Tokyo, Japan on July 22. The Fair will run till July 24, and 44 Indian textiles and clothing exporters have booked 50 stalls. The AEPC along with the SRTEPC and the TEXPROCIL are participating in the Fair. With a view to diversify the textiles and clothing exports and reduce dependence on USA and EU 27, the Government is promoting exports to South East Asia under its 'Look East Policy'.

An important component of this policy is to attract of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Japan is one of the biggest consumers of textiles and clothing, but India has very negligible market share of 1.12 per cent in Japanese import basket. To further these objectives, during his stay in Tokyo, Maran will address a business meeting hosted by the Japan-India Business Cooperation Committee (JIBC) and will use this platform to solicit investment in Indian textiles sector, where 100 per cent FDI is permissible.

The Indian Government is conscious of the fact that textiles industry needs modernization and there is huge scope for Japanese investment to upgrade spinning, weaving, processing and garmenting facilities. The Government is making serious efforts to attract investment in this important segment of national economy. This interaction is part of series of interactions, which Maran has conceptualized as part of Government efforts to modernize Indian textiles industry and explore new markets for Indian textiles and clothing exports.

Star Labels commences production of tag free comfort labels for apparels & garments

Written By Views maker on July 16, 2009 | 7/16/2009

forwebMumbai (Maharashtra/India), July 15, 2009: Star Labels Pvt Ltd, Navi Mumbai, has announced the commencement of tag less labels, which is also called as heat transfer labels, for the apparels and gar ments industry. Besides, tag less labels, Star Labels will also offer value added packaging material for garment and apparel industry such as attractive saree boxes with creative design and special effects, using speciality inks.

The tag less labels are heat transfer labels aimed at giving comfort to people. The tagless label is heat transferred onto the garment using heat press. Tagless clothing labels are fast and easy to apply. Ink Used in these transfer labels is FDA approved and there is no PVC, phthalate and Lead in the ink. It is good for skin contact, absolutely non-itchy feeling, and very low risk of counterfeiting. It is cheaper to get the tag less label printed and getting it heat transferred instead of making a tag label and stitch on to the clothe. And it is cost-effective for garment and apparel manufactures in terms of materials and labour.

The entire garment and apparel industry -- from intimate apparel to industrial wear, from performance sport wear to high street fashion wear -- needs tagging / labeling which bears information of size, wash-care, company logo, etc. But the garment and apparel manufacturers in India are still using the woven neck labels which often causes itching or irritation especially during hot summer.

However, there is a trend in the US and Europe, where the garment makers have now all moved from regular woven / embroidered labels tag free comfort labels. But, sooner or later this 'comfort' trend will also become one of the hottest trends in apparel manufacturing and promotional apparel industries in India.

Only few entrepreneurs in India have successfully adopted this formula and slowly all the big companies are switching to heat transfer labels. "Considering this growing new trend, we will be among the first few to offer such consumer-comfort products. We are now fully equipped to offer heat transfer labels solution especially for neck label application, which are unique in its kind," says Mr Thakkar.

Tagless labels: Advantage consumers!

. "TAG FREE COMFORT": NO Tag, means NO itchy or irritating feel.

. "FEEL GOOD FACTOR": Label is inbounded with garment /apparel thus gives a 'feel good factor' with attractive look.

. "Skin friendly Technology": PVC free/ phthalate free and lead free, ink from reputed suppliers is being used; Star Label's Proprietary formula meets International standards and is suitable for skin contacts.

Advantage apparel & garment makers:

. "Brand Protection": Low risk of counterfeiting. Label cannot be tampered once it is Heat Transferred on to garment /Apparel; once tag less label is in place, re-branding (by unscrupulous elements) is impossible.

. "Short Run": Small quantity is feasible at a reasonable price.

. "Quick turnaround": For new orders with new design & development 5-7 working days and for repeat orders within 72 hours.

"If the T-shirt or any other apparel has a woven tag on it, it will bother users' neck/back especially during the hot sweating summer. Therefore, people of all ages would definitely like to wear a cloth with a tag less label on it instead of the tickling woven label. Soon, this little tag less label will no longer be an optional, but a must to make the consumers more comfortable in their clothes", says Thakkar.

Star Labels Pvt Ltd, based in New Mumbai has invested over Rs 10 million in infrastructure and modern equipment. It is targetting on three markets. Under the brand 'STAR LABELSCO' it offers heat transfer tag-less labels; Spot UV services will be offered under the brand 'STAR SPOT ON' especially to Navi Mumbai printers; and 'STAR ACCESSORIES' is a brand created to catering to fancy / value added boxes especially to the textile (saree) and jewllery market. Its news unit is located on a 2500 sq.ft area on Thane-Belapur Road in New Mumbai. It has also set up a branch office at Tirupur, the T-shirt city in Tamil Nadu.

The company has deployed one of the best screen printing technologies, an advanced 30" x 40" fully automatic STOP cylinder press with high speed and high accuracy (3000 impressions/hour) from Grafica. It has also deployed a semi automatic screen printing machine with auto take off system supported by Jet air / IR dryer chamber. To support its printing operations, the company has also deployed the entire pre press and post press set up - all from Grafica Flextronica. The company has also invested in a Polar cutting machine for manufacturing labels and packaging products. It has employed a team of well trained manpower to run the production.

Based on the professional experience of Mr. Mehul Shah (Textile engineer and Star Label's Director) and Mr. Nirav Thakkar (a printing professional with 20 year experience - Managing Director), the company has succeeded in creating its own 'proprietary formula' to offer such novel solution (tag less labels) to Indian garments and apparels market.
