Ever since developed countries started to increasingly resort to Non-Tariff Measures (NTM) to protect their domestic industry, the exporters in developing countries have been finding it difficult to overcome such trade barriers. NTMs like the demand for ecofriendly products, especially those made from organic cotton and child labour free production units are restricting the exporters from Third World countries. They fail to meet the NTMs set by those countries, and end up suffering heavy losses due to cancelled export orders . As part of the national-level study to find out the impact of Non-Tariff Measures (NTM) on garment exports, The results of their study would be presented at the next World Trade Organisation meet at Dhoka in Nepal.
