The Tamil Nadu Government, after initiating dialogues with both the associations, had asked them to settle the issue and resume power loom operations by today .Power loom workers in this textile region tonight withdrew their 27-day old strike over wages after textile producers association agreed to honour a pact signed in August 2008. Over two lakh power looms, run by about 25,000 power loom workers, in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts fell silent from Aug 5 protesting the "breach of agreement" by the producers, who reduced the wages by 10 per cent, citing decline in the market for grey fabrics.
