H&M may have been destroying and discarding unworn clothing, but at least they made some stuff with environmentally friendly, certified-organic cotton. Apparently some of the cotton they labeled "certified organic" was contaminated with genetically modified cotton from India, the German Financial Times discovered after independent testing. Authorities in India say the fraud is occurring on a "gigantic scale," and blame organic-certification agencies.
