On the basis of Supreme Court's order, polluting dyeing and bleaching units in Tirupur have been sealed. In the last six months, 115 dyeing units and 36 bleaching units have been shut down. As per records only 582 dyeing and bleaching units with proper treatment plants function are there in Tirupur district now, claim officials. A contempt of court petition seeking action against the state pollution control board officials, the Madras High Court on Monday ordered that water samples be collected from noyyal river in Karur district on October 20.
